About Us
Woodcrest Public School is situated north of the Oshawa Centre and just west of the downtown area of Oshawa. Our student population is approximately 360 students. We currently have four Kindergarten classes and a total of 16 homeroom classes.
The Woodcrest staff is dedicated to guiding, encouraging and nurturing students in order that each individual will achieve the maximum success in all aspects of their lives. Our school motto, “We believe in you”, reminds our students that we believe in their potential, their uniqueness, their capabilities, and their ability to meet high expectations. This motto also reflects our staff’s commitment to building each individual student’s growth, skill development, sense of belonging, and interest in learning.
Woodcrest students participate in a variety of learning opportunities, inside the classroom and outdoors, including hands-on workshops, team challenges and a variety of curricular and co-curricular activities. We provide our students with many opportunities to develop new skills, showcase their learning, share artistic and athletic talents, as well as unique interests and abilities throughout the year.
Mission statement

Principal’s message
Welcome to Woodcrest!
Wondrous Woodcrest is a welcoming, warm-hearted school community. Students, parents, and staff are committed to the well-being of one another. There is a culture of learning, where student success is our priority! We use evidence-based strategies for gap closing. We engage our learners through innovative teacher practice. We ensure that each of our students see themselves reflected in their classroom and in our school. We provide each student with the tools that he/she needs to be successful. We inspire student, parent and staff leadership throughout each school year.
Our School Community Council (SCC) has grown over the past five years from a group of strangers, to a team of friends. They provide continuous feedback to the school and keep our parent community well-informed. All of their fundraising initiatives provide families with something useful (e.g. Fresh from the Farm; pizza lunch; etc.), that also serves to generate funds, which can be used to provide things for our students (e.g. Outdoor recess play equipment; Aussie X workshops; etc.) They are always looking for ways to get parents involved and to work in partnership with the school.
Our students are currently using online programs to supplement their classroom learning. They have accounts with Mathletics, Knowledgehook, and Vocabulary Spelling City.
Woodcrest offers a variety of co-curricular opportunities. In the past our parents have added to our experiences by offering a Craft Club and Origami Club. We’ve had sports teams, sports drop-ins, tech club, Chess Club, Eco Club, French Club, Social Justice Club, tutoring, and opportunities in the Arts, such as a talent-sharing event. Every year is unique and based on student interest!
